Paul Rushing, AIA, LEED AP: Senior Project Architect

As Senior Project Architect, Paul has honed the communication skills necessary to carry a project forward from initial Pattern Writing to a completed building. He has an abiding interest in the challenges presented by the task: consensus building, interactive listening, and needs interpretation, leading to design of whole buildings and overall budget control. And he truly relishes the ways in which materials can be used in new and innovative ways. Paul is driven by the belief that the built environment does more than shelter its inhabitants – at its best, the built environment engages, delights, and lifts spirits.

“Most satisfying is my belief and knowledge that people are more than simply sheltered by the built environment. They are engaged and delighted by it. Perhaps their spirits are even lifted by it. Momentarily, it is certainly about materials and methods, but far more than that, and for much longer, the endeavour is about the enduring legacy of people feeling welcomed and alive in their buildings and places.”
