Elkhart Lake, WI
The Kames at Elkhart Lake is a residential development designed to preserve and celebrate the beauty of its natural setting. The property is a unique example of Sheboygan County’s glacial kettle moraines, characterized by deep valleys and overlooks that provide expansive views of the landscape. To take advantage of these features, The Kubala Washatko Architects created a master plan for this community that concentrates development in smaller hamlets, leaving the majority of the land untouched in protected estate lots.
Each hamlet is centered around its own green space, and each home is oriented to both open onto this community space and maximize views outward. Roads are kept to a minimum, and buildings are self-contained in order to preserve the serenity of the landscape. The development is carefully designed to preserve the natural features of the landscape, and three miles of walking paths allow residents to share fully in the sense of place established by this community.
