During initial stages of programming with TKWA, the church created a set of twenty ‘principles’ to guide the design of their worship space. These principles included a self-assessment of how well each was currently being met by the existing church facilities. Completing this document helped to identify building needs and establish construction priorities.
Reconfigured seating in the church interior allows flexibility for small chapel settings to full worship house. The chancel was modified to create unobstructed views and open it up more into the worship space. Other acoustical improvements were also made to the space. Indirect lighting to brighten a dark ceiling and decorative side aisle pendants were added.
The original entryway was reconfigured to make a more suitable transitional space separate from the worship space. This new entry created a ‘gradient of spaces’ less disruptive to others and helped prepare visitors for the experience of worship. A beautiful glass wall now wraps around the entry porch.
