Marquette University Campus Beautification
Milwaukee, WI
Milwaukee, WI
TKWA was selected as team leader to implement a campus identity and beautification master plan for the Marquette University campus, originally developed by Sasaki Associates. The overall goal was to improve both the pedestrian and the vehicular experience of the university.
A prominent feature of the plan included the design and construction of large entry portals along the Wisconsin Avenue corridor. One large portal, flanked by two smaller portals, is located at both the east and west entrances to the core campus. The large portals are illuminated at night for greater visibility.
TKWA was responsible for the overall cohesiveness of the project, and in particular the design of the gateway elements, selection/design of lighting and site furnishings, coordination of other consultants, client contact, and aiding Marquette representatives in coordination with the City of Milwaukee. TKWA helped to develop site design issues such as connection to the urban context, paving patterns and materials, landscape design and plant materials, and other site elements such as the gateway concepts, lighting and site furnishings.
