Grafton Village Center
Grafton, WI
The Grafton Village Center is a new mixed-use development located on a prominent intersection between a major east-west traffic corridor and the main downtown street of Grafton.
Designed to be completed in two phases, the Grafton Village Center will create a pedestrian scale retail and office environment that compliments the significant redevelopment efforts of the Villlage of Grafton. The building and site design were carefully considered to reinforce the traditional characteristics of small downtown centers, including ease of pedestrian access and a public plaza. Buildings were brought forward to the street edge with parking arranged in back.
One of the more significant technical challenges was to meet stringent budget constraints without sacrificing building quality or detail. The creative use of masonry cladding was one economical design solution. The Phase 1 building includes lower level parking and storage, first level retail spaces, and second level commercial office space. A first level coffee shop will be located adjacent to the outdoor public plaza.
