Ozaukee Cty Courthouse Courtroom Restoration
Port Wasington, WI
In 2006, TKWA executed a mock-up of proposed restoration and conservation treatments to gain support and funding for the eventual courtroom restoration. Restoration began in May of 2008.

The challenge with this restoration was to be historically accurate and sensitive while also implementing modern technology essential to Board meetings.Intact historic surfaces were cleaned and conserved. Original decorative motifs that had been missing were recreated. Wood flooring, wainscoting, doors, casing, and trim were restored. Missing historic light fixtures and a mural were recreated, To meet the needs of the County Board, a new audio-visual system was installed, including a concealed projection screen, new projector, new sound system, electrical upgrades, and new voting system. Supplemental lighting was also added to achieve appropriate lighting levels for County Board members.

The original 1901 drawings and specifications were intact and provided insight into appropriate restoration treatments.
