Most satisfying is my belief and knowledge that people are more than simply sheltered by the built environment. They are engaged and delighted by it. Perhaps their spirits are even lifted by it. Momentarily, it is certainly about materials and methods, but far more than that, and for much longer, the endeavour is about the enduring legacy of people feeling welcomed and alive in their buildings and places.
