Program: Extensive assessment, restoration, and renovation of historic courthouse building
Ozaukee County Courthouse
Prior to restoration of the historic Ozaukee County Courthouse, The Kubala Washatko Architects, Inc. executed a complete Historic Condition Assessment, which established the condition of the structure and served as a guide for prioritizing restoration efforts.
In 2007, TKWA completed design drawings and specifications to restore the original clock tower. Original limestone was repaired, cleaned, repointed with hydrated lime mortar, and patched. The goal of the tower restoration was to begin the restoration process, raise awareness of this stately historic structure, and raise funds for continued restoration efforts. The next phase of the project focused on the historic Courtroom interior. The goal of the restoration was to be historically accurate and sensitive while also implementing the necessary technology to meet modern-day audio-visual and lighting needs.
