Program: Restoration and preservation of historic inn, including updates to restore original architectural features and improve accessibility
Inn at Pine Terrace
This project successfully combines restoration, historic preservation and renovation to an 1880’s mansion and converted B&B inn listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The primary challenge TKWA faced was to restore the exterior massing and detailing of this historic mansion to its original splendor using only photographs as reference. Exterior and interior detail was preserved where possible, while missing elements were skillfully reproduced.
To accommodate the building’s new use and restore its historic character, TKWA removed a 1950s dining room addition and replaced it with a Victorian sun porch. Original entrances were restored, and turrets were reconstructed on the ground using matching brick and shingles and then lifted into place. All fireplaces were restored to operating condition. The building was altered for ADA accessibility and updated HVAC and plumbing systems.
